This is a great spicy cake that goes wonderfully with a cup of coffee or hot tea!  Add a little caramel sauce to bring out the flavor!

 

Ingredients:

1/2 cup sugar

1/2 cup brown sugar

1/2 cup butter

1 egg

1/2 cup honey

2 1/2 cups flour

1 1/2 tsp baking soda

2 tsp cinnamon

2 tsp ground ginger

1 tsp ground cloves

1/2 tsp salt

1 cup hot water

 

First, preheat the oven to 350 degrees.  In a large bowl, cream together the white sugar and the butter.

Fall is in the air!  With the change to cooler weather, the boys and I made our annual hike out to the mountain orchard to pick some apples!

Spicy Beef and Cabbage Soup

This is by far, my absolute favorite soup!  It has such a great flavor, and a wonderful aroma when cooking!  The “spicy” in the title refers to all of the spices added, not a hot flavor.

 

Ingredients:

1 lb ground beef

1 large onion – chopped

1 garlic clove – minced

4 cups beef broth

3 cups water

2 stalks celery – chopped

2 large carrots – chopped

3 bay leaves

1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce

3 cups chopped cabbage

2 tbsp sugar

Cincinnati Chili

Cincinnati Chili

I love chili, but I had never tried Cincinnati chili until a visit to a restaurant that specializes in chili.  I have always made my chili with three beans, but Cincinnati chili is just meat and onion.  It has a great flavor and tons of different spices that work together to make it super yummy!
