Bulk Snacks: Home Made Trail Mix

Here is another family favorite: Home Made Trail Mix. We have made this time and time again, and it always works out cheaper and easier than buying it pre-made. Plus it’s reasonably healthy as far as snacks go and you can make it with whatever suits your fancy.

Rather than buying trail mix premade at wal-mart for 6 bucks a pound I decided to make my own. Not only because I think I can make it cheaper, but also better and without those NASTY raisins. I hate raisins, always have. I eat them when I have to but YUCK, LOL.

Anyway, here is what I made mine with: Pecans/Almonds/Cashews/Peanuts/Choc Chips

I can’t find my receipt to be sure, it comes out to about 4 dollars a pound off the top of my head. But… it meets my requirements… no raisins. I used chocolate chips rather than m/m’s since they were cheaper, but beware they will melt easier.

About the Author:

Hi, I'm Shane, aka Hungry Dad. I'm as busy as everyone these days and my two boys just add to that. I hate when we have to eat out and love to come home and have a home cooked meal with the family after a rough day. But who has the time, right? Well, with a lot of trial and error we found a bunch of great, easy to make recipes that can be made in bulk and freeze well. This means we can have home cookin' in about the same time as making a box of mac and cheese. Convenient and yummy!
